Utkalmani Gopabandhu Institute of Engineering (UGIE), situated in Rourkela, Odisha, is a prominent state-run diploma engineering institution established in 1962. Initially known as "Composite Polytechnic," it underwent several name changes before adopting its current name in 1976. The institute was founded to cater to the technical education needs of the region, particularly to support industries like the Rourkela Steel Plant.
