Dharanidhar University, located in Keonjhar, Odisha, is a state public university established on February 12, 2023. It evolved from the former Dharanidhar Autonomous College, which was originally founded in 1957 as Keonjhar Science College. The university is named after the revolutionary leader Dharanidhar Naik and is situated on a 154-acre campus.

The institution's journey began in 1957 as Keonjhar Science College, later renamed Keonjhar College in 1967. It was named Dharanidhar College in 1983–84 and granted autonomous status in 2004. The college was accredited with a B++ grade by NAAC in 2006 and achieved university status in 2023.
