About the Institute

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, is a premier state-run medical institution in Odisha. It functions both as a major government healthcare facility and a postgraduate medical education and research institute. The institution was upgraded to a teaching hospital to enhance specialist medical education and services in the region.


1. Academic Programs:

The institution offers postgraduate and diploma programs in medical sciences, primarily in clinical and para-clinical disciplines. It is gradually expanding its academic offerings.

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) in various specialties such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Anaesthesiology, etc.

    • Master of Surgery (MS) in departments like General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, etc.
