National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) is a premier public technical and research university located in Rourkela, Odisha. Established in 1961 as Regional Engineering College (REC) Rourkela, it was upgraded to National Institute of Technology in 2002 and granted the status of Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.
